Swans boss Duff praises Bashir Humphreys' display
Michael Duff hailed the maturity shown by Bashir Humphreys after the defender impressed in Swansea City’s defeat to Leicester City.
The 20-year-old was making just his sixth Championship appearance, but relished his personal duel with veteran striker Jamie Vardy.
He made four clearances, while his distribution was excellent as the centre-half ended the game with a pass completion rate of 96 per cent.
And Duff praised how the youngster had handled facing a side littered with Premier League experience, none more so than Premier League and FA Cup winner Vardy.
“I thought Bashir Humphreys was outstanding today, his mentality is great," he said.
“He was not the only one on the field I could say that about, but for such a young player to be left one v one with someone of Jamie Vardy’s quality and experience was impressive.
“He is quick and makes intelligent runs, so I was very pleased with Bashir today, it was just a pity he was on the wrong end of the scoreline.
“You can see the competition for places we have in the squad now as players are getting fitter, we have got players making a real impact and pushing from the bench.”
