Swans add Paljk to under-23s squad
Swansea City have signed Slovenian defender Matic Paljk on a free transfer until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
The left-back will link up with the club’s under-23 team, with Paljk having undergone a successful trial with the Swans which included claiming an assist in the Premier League 2 Division 1 victory over Derby County at the Liberty.
The 20-year-old started his career with FC Koper – where he made 17 first-team appearances in his native Slovenia – before a nine-month loan with Italian Serie B side Spezia’s under-19s.
Paljk is able to join the Swans while the transfer window is closed as he has been a free agent since leaving Koper this summer.
“It is like a dream come true to sign with a Premier League team,” he said.
“It was great to play in that game against Derby and to get an assist. I had to come off with a slight injury but I am fit now and hope to have more opportunities soon.
“It has been great to get to know the lads over the last few weeks. Adnan (Maric) and Gregor (Zabret) have been helping me settle in.
“Now it is on me to show what I can do. I know I will have to work hard with the under-23s during this campaign to prove myself.”
