Supporters can receive Swansea City news from Alexa
Swansea City, in conjunction with Other Media, are delighted to raise the bar in accessibility and convenience for fans with new Alexa skills and news briefing.
Alexa, Amazon’s voice-controlled smart assistant, is making a whole host of everyday tasks even simpler, in a variety of devices from smart speakers, to phones, to cars.
Now the Jack Army can find out the latest Swans score, get the upcoming line-up and their daily dose of Swans news, all without lifting a finger. Swansea City’s digital partner, Other Media, have developed a flash briefing and a Swans Alexa skill for fans to get updates through their smart devices.
The service is also designed to help break down potential barriers for people with visual impairments and blind supporters who may find news delivered aurally to be more convenient and accessible.
To use these new features with a smart speaker you can activate them now or, if you haven’t yet enabled Alexa, you simply have to download the Alexa app to your computer, tablet or smartphone, and then enable the news briefing and the skill (more details below).
Once enabled you can ask Alexa the score or the line-up by saying “Alexa, ask Swans Official the score”. This tells Alexa where to retrieve the requested information from so it’s important to always use the invocation name: “Swans Official”.
Alexa will then include all the latest from Swansea City next time you ask for the news.
