Steve Cooper | We're facing one of the strongest squads in the league
Steve Cooper insists Swansea City’s record of two wins from two games against Nottingham Forest will have no bearing on the outcome of Wednesday’s Championship meeting.
The Swans host the Reds at the Liberty Stadium looking to continue a two-month unbeaten run in league action which has them firmly among the automatic promotion contenders.
A brave Connor Roberts’ header saw Swansea take all three points on the reverse fixture, while Cooper’s side were also 5-1 winners when the teams met in the FA Cup in January.
But the head coach is mindful that Forest are on a good run of form of their own, losing just one of their last 11 Championship fixtures.
And Cooper believes the league position of the East Midlands club belies the talent in their squad.
“I have spoken to the players about. We have faced them in the league and the cup, but this is a completely different game,” he said.
“They are a very strong squad, and they have been in the two games we have played.
“They have been in good form, in terms of results and performances.
“So, I think the two previous games will have no bearing on this one.
“Regardless of league position, and things like that, we are coming up against one of the strongest squads in the league and that’s how we will be approaching it.
“We treat every opponent with the same respect, they are experienced with massive strength in depth.
“They have an experienced manager and coaching staff. It’s a really tough game and we have to be ready for it.”
