Steve Cooper | We won't rush Aldo Kalulu
Head coach Steve Cooper confirmed Aldo Kalulu is nearing a first-team return, but won’t be rushed back into action.
The French winger has not featured for Swansea City since the 3-2 victory over Preston in August, with an ankle injury limiting him to just two appearances since his season-long loan move from FC Basel.
But he took a big step towards putting himself in contention for first-team selection when he featured for 45 minutes of the under-23s’ 1-1 draw with Fulham last weekend.
The 23-year-old set up Will Rickard for the Swans’ goal before being replaced at half-time.
Tuesday’s Championship clash at Huddersfield Town and Friday’s televised fixture with Fulham will come too soon for Kalulu.
But Cooper has been encouraged by the steps he has made in the past week.
“I think Tuesday is a bit too soon for Aldo,” Cooper confirmed. “We're pleased with him being back in training and games.
“He played 45 minutes for the Under-23s but he probably needs another week or so and another game before he's really considered for selection.
“We don't want to rush him back in because he had a bit of a nasty injury and one that we've got to be really careful with, even at the end of his rehab.
“We really want to see that process through thoroughly so hopefully he can get back in the squad and stay there.”
