Steve Cooper | We played some of our best football of the season so far
Steve Cooper felt Swansea City had produced some of their best football of the season so far in their 2-0 victory over Stoke City at the Liberty Stadium.
Goals from Jay Fulton and Kasey Palmer saw the Swans climb to second in the Championship table, and claim another clean sheet into the bargain.
The hosts were on top from the outset, and would be justified in feeling they could have won by more.
The second half proved a more even affair, but this was a deserved victory and a fine response to the late setback at Bristol City last weekend.
“Obviously 2-0 is a good scoreline, with a clean sheet, and I thought we were excellent in the first half in terms of the performance levels,” said Cooper.
“We should probably have scored more for the positions we got in and the chances we had.
“But, in terms of our general play, we were excellent in terms of our positioning, our commitment to the gameplan, and our style.
“We were probably as good as we have been, in terms of how we want to play, this season.
“In the second half Stoke changed a bit tactically in terms of their positions and their intensity, and we had to manage that and work hard to get a foothold back in the game.
“We did that in the end, and I thought we were more than good for the result."
