Steve Cooper was left frustrated after Swansea City were held to a goalless draw by Reading in their final game of 2020.

The Swans had the better of the contest at the Liberty Stadium, but found Royals keeper Rafael Cabral in inspired form.

The Brazilian denied Andre Ayew on a trio of occasions, and also made saves from Jake Bidwell and Joel Latibeaudiere, while Marc Guehi fired another chance over.

It ensured the Swans ended the year third in the Championship table, with 13 clean sheets to their name and an eight-match unbeaten sequence on home turf.

But Cooper admitted he felt the performance deserved more than a point.

“We are frustrated because I thought we played really well and we created a lot of chances,” said the head coach.

“In large parts it was not poor finishing, their goalkeeper has had an excellent night.

“He made a load of good saves, one, in particular, from Andre’s header second half was top draw.

“So, we are frustrated, but I don’t think we can be disappointed as the effort was good, the performance was good and Reading have been a dangerous team this season.

“We limited them to a couple of chances from set-pieces, so there were a lot of really good things.

“But it is frustrating because we deserved more.”

Cooper also confirmed he is waiting to discover the full extent of an injury to Ryan Bennett after the centre-half was forced off early in the second half with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.
