Steve Cooper wants intent and intensity
Steve Cooper wants Swansea City to play with intent and intensity when they face a Charlton side enjoying an excellent return to the Championship.
The Addicks are back in the second tier after seeing off Sunderland in May’s League One play-off final at Wembley.
And Lee Bowyer’s side have wasted little time making an impression, sitting sixth in the table – just a point behind the second-placed Swansea – following their weekend win over Leeds at The Valley.
Swans boss Cooper feels Lee Bowyer’s men are benefiting from the confidence of winning games regularly in League One.
And in what is likely to be a challenging atmosphere, he knows his side will have to meet fire with fire in south-east London.
“They’re a club used to winning, and it’s a good habit to have,” said Cooper.
“Momentum and spirits are high, and rightly so given what they achieved last season and their results this season.
“Sometimes when you come up on the back of promotion it can be a bit of a high.
“They’re a competitive team and they play some good football.
“So we have to be ready, ready to play our way and make sure we match their strengths and the intensity they play at.
“The atmosphere will be a good one to play in and it’s one we’re looking forward to.”
