Steve Cooper wants further Swansea City progress
Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper wants his side to continue building momentum when they face Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup tonight (7.45pm).
Swansea are unbeaten under Cooper after kicking off the Championship season with a win over Hull and a draw at Derby.
Attention switches to knock-out action as the Swans welcome the League Two Cobblers to the Liberty Stadium for the first round of the competition.
Cooper is weighing up whether to rotate his squad but, regardless of who plays, he wants to see further progress from his team as they get used to his methods and gameplan.
“Winning games is always going to help, so we want to have a cup run,” he said.
“We are still building how we want to play this year, and the objective is to get the idea of how we want to play to a top level.
“The intentions and progress are good, but games are where you really make steps to where we want to be.
“So, we are really looking forward to it. We are back home as well, which we can’t get enough of really.
“We want to win football games playing the way we want to play and it’s another chance to do that.
“Tournament or cup football is different, but we still have to prepare and be ready to perform.”
