Steve Cooper | Our focus is on the here and now
Steve Cooper insists he and Swansea City will only be focused on the here and now when they face Brentford at the Brentford Community Stadium tonight (7pm).
The Swans head to west London sitting second in the Championship table following back-to-back wins and clean sheets against Stoke and Blackburn.
They now face the Bees, who ended their play-off aspirations at the tail-end of last season with a 3-2 aggregate victory in the semi-finals.
But head coach Cooper has made clear this is no revenge mission given the two sides have seen changes in personnel, and is only interested in the three points on offer.
"We don't look back. We're not referencing to last season with the play-offs," he said.
"We're a different team, they're a different team. It's a new season. It's all about looking forward.
"These are the games we've, not just got to get ready for, but got to be excited about the challenge.
"We go there with a lot of confidence, a lot of commitment, and we'll see how it goes.
"What has happened before is irrelevant to me, we'll just focus on ourselves and we'll always act with class, I hope, even though sometimes that's difficult with the emotions of a game.
"We're never too disturbed or disrupted by what anybody else does. It's about focusing on ourselves while, at the same time, trying to stick up for ourselves as well.
"Our only objective on Tuesday is to go and get three points for the Swans, and that's where our focus will be."
