Steve Cooper | Let's channel our emotions into a strong showing
Steve Cooper has urged Swansea City to once again show their unity and desire to make sure their midweek frustration is channelled into a positive performance at Blackburn.
Less than 72 hours after the dust started to settle on a controversial and ultimately gut-wrenching defeat at Fulham in midweek, the Swans return to action in Lancashire as they take on Rovers at Ewood Park.
With the disappointment and sense of injustice still burning after a merited result was snatched away in south-west London, head coach Cooper knows it would be easy for those emotions to linger given the quick turnaround between games.
And the Swans boss has challenged his side to put all those emotions to the best possible use to make sure they bounce back against an in-form Blackburn side.
"I just think from the Fulham game and how we were dealt with, we've got to use our anger and frustrations to make a strong and positive impact in the game so we can take the best version of us there,” he said.
"We need to stay strong and together, and continue to plan and play as we want the team to.
"If we can show the fight, desire and pride that we did against Fulham then we'll give ourselves a chance."
Despite that midweek result, the play-off picture remained unchanged, with the Swans still five points off the top six with 11 games now remaining in the 2019-20 season.
“We believe it is still up for grabs, the gap is the same,” added Cooper.
“We go game-by-game and this is a tough week.
“But I don’t care, things like that will not get the better of us and we will be ready.
“We want to make sure we don’t have any regrets.”
