The stage is set, says Gorre

16th March

Kenji Gorre believes the Liberty Stadium is the perfect platform for Swansea City Under-23s to deliver another impressive performance when they host Manchester United in Premier League 2 on Sunday (1pm).

The former United youngster, who spent a decade at the Red Devils’ academy, has scored twice against his old side this season, with the Swans earning a 1-1 draw in the league before a narrow 2-1 defeat in the International Cup.

And Gorre, who scored his 12th goal of the campaign during Monday’s victory over Leicester, believes a stadium environment could help inspire the under-23s to deliver another special result.

“Winning against Leicester, the league leaders, thanks to an attacking display has set the example for how we want to finish this campaign,” Gorre said.

“It was a massive win and gives us that mental edge heading into Sunday’s game.

“All the players in the development squad have shown we can handle it at this level, and I believe we are definitely up there with the best in the league. But we must continue to prove that.

“To play at the Liberty Stadium has come at the right time and is something very special. It is a key stage because that is where we want to be playing our football.

“Playing Manchester United there will be a fantastic experience for the players, even if it is just a little taster of what it is like to play a stadium game. We all hope the Jack Army come out and watch us to cheer us on.”

Fans can watch the young Swans at the Liberty Stadium for FREE, with kick-off at 1pm.

Supporters attending can claim their free ticket prior to entry from the ticket office or programme booth and are asked to arrive early to avoid queues or delays. Sunday's game will also be streamed LIVE on swanseacity.com.
