Stacey John-Davis | Reaching the final is nothing less than we deserve
Forward Stacey John-Davis felt Swansea City Women's progression to the Genero Adran Trophy final was reward for a season's worth of hard work, and has vowed they will leave everything out there in April's showpiece.
John-Davis netted a hat-trick in the 5-1 semi-final win over The New Saints, netting a tidy low finish for her first, before adding two excellent strikes in the space of a couple of minutes to complete her hat-trick.
That followed a headed opener from Emily Thomas, and Sammy Wynne’s first-time effort.
John-Davis was delighted to reach the final - where the Swans will face Cardiff City - and wants her side to kick on and continue their strong form.
“We’re absolutely delighted to get into the final, it’s really good personally to get on the scoresheet, but to get into that final is what we came here to do so we are really happy," she said.
“We’ve all worked so hard for it this season and to reach the final is nothing less than we deserve.
“Anything can happen in a cup game; we will leave everything out there in the cup final. We will turn up having prepared properly and give it everything we’ve got.
“We’ll never underestimate any team we are up against, and we know we’ve got another tough game next week in the Welsh Cup and we will put everything into it, as we did here."
And John-Davis will head into that Welsh Cup semi-final brimming with confidence after her treble.
“It’s always a great feeling to be on the scoresheet, I’ll take a lot from the hat-trick and go into next week full of confidence," she added.
