Sophie Brisland-Hancocks to retire from football

Swansea City Women’s midfielder Sophie Brisland-Hancocks will retire from football following her side’s season closer against Aberystwyth Town Women on Sunday.
The 28-year-old has featured 201 times for the Swans across two spells, scoring 27 goals, having first joined the club in 2013.
Over her first stint with the club, Brisland-Hancocks helped the Swans to one league title, two Welsh Cups and one league cup.
It was during her first spell at the club that she would first meet her wife, former Swansea goalkeeper Kate Brisland.

Brisland-Hancocks departed the club in 2020 to join Cardiff Met Women, and helped them claim two Genero Adran Trophy successes in her four seasons with the club, before returning to Swansea ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.
She would be an integral part of the side in her first season back at the club, being the only player to feature in all 28 games across the campaign, with the Swans finishing second in the Genero Adran Premier.
Everyone at Swansea City would like to thank Sophie for her incredible efforts across her time with the club, and wish her all the best in her retirement.
