Sophie Brisland-Hancocks | It was crucial to bounce back, we’re happy with the win
Sophie Brisland-Hancocks says Swansea City Women are looking to build on their 3-0 victory over Barry Town United when they travel to Cardiff Met Women this weekend.
The midfielder joined from the Archers in the summer, and has made a good impact in her first two games as a Swan.
And it was her cross which was turned in by Barry’s Nia Davies to give the Swans their third against the visitors on Sunday and secure their first three points of the season.
After playing out a 3-3 draw on the opening day, it was important to the Swans to get their first win of the campaign, but the performance was also much-improved.
“We’re really happy with that result and the three points on the board,” said Brisland-Hancocks.
“It was disappointing that we dropped points last week, so it was crucial to bounce back and put in a performance as well.
“For me personally, it’s been a great start, but as a team we’re happy. We’re kicking on and making an impact in the league.
“It’s always challenging when you have a lot of new players. The midfield is the spine of the team and you need consistency, but we’ve got a lot of quality in our midfield which makes it competitive. That’s great and it’s what we want as players.
“I’m looking forward to [returning to Met] this weekend. It’s live on Sgorio, it’s a big game for us and for me personally, I’ll be going there as a Jack and looking to win.”
