Shephard's delight at first-team inclusion
11th October
Liam Shephard revealed his delight at being part of the first-team squad for last weekend's Premier League clash with Newcastle.
The 19-year-old was named on the substitutes bench for the 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium as the Swans remained fifth in the table after a solid start to the campaign.
But it was a day to remember for Shephard, as the full back was included in the matchday squad following Angel Rangel's suspension.
And the Pentre-born product was understandably delighted to experience a top-flight game up close and personal.
"That's what you dream about," he said. "As a player you want to be at the highest level and it was great to be a part of the squad.
"It was surreal to be watching the game that closely, but it is ultimately where you want to be. I found out on the Friday, and I was both nervous and excited at the same time.
"Training with the first-team has been a great experience so far.
"The speed of training is obviously a lot quicker but that helps you to improve as a player.
"It's made me want to be on the bench more regularly and then hopefully get a chance along the way."
Meanwhile, Swansea City's Under-21 clash with Crewe Alexandra on Monday (October 13) will now be played at Landore.
The fixture was previously advertised to be played at the Liberty Stadium.
Entry is FREE but there is no parking at the facility.
