Season tickets reminder | 2021-22 General Sale
Season tickets for the 2021-22 season recently went on general sale, and to celebrate the launch we asked Alan Tate to share his favourite memory from our time at the Liberty Stadium.
The former defender has had a long association with Swansea City since he initially joined the club on loan from Manchester United during the 2002-03 season.
Tate played a key role in the club’s Football League survival later that season, before eventually joining the Swans on a permanent basis.
He enjoyed a rise through the leagues with the club, playing in all four divisions as he helped the Swans reach the heights of the Premier League.
Tate captained the Swans In the first ever Premier League game at Manchester City, and is now part of Steve Cooper’s coaching staff at the Liberty Stadium.
“The one moment that sticks out is Nottingham Forest in the play-off semi-final,” he said. “It was an unbelievable night really, the loudest I’ve ever heard it here.
“Still to this day, the atmosphere was unbelievable. It’s a cliché but the fans were like the 12th or even 13th man - that’s how loud it was.”
He added: “The fans are massively important. I think if you get a good fan base of the loyalty that we’ve had of say 12-14,000 season-ticket holding supporters since we’ve been at the Liberty, it makes a difference in pushing you on to what they want us to achieve.
“To see them back here and for us to try and give some happiness back to a community we all love, that’s the first and foremost in my mind. Get the people coming back to watching what they love watching.”
