Sammy Wynne | We need to continue to make the most of home advantage
Swansea City Women’s midfielder Sammy Wynne believes her side’s home form will be key as they gear up for phase two of the Genero Adran Premier.
Wynne helped the Swans to a third home win of 2024 as she headed home her second goal of the season in a 5-0 win over the New Saints Women last weekend.
The victory extended an excellent start to the calendar year at Llandarcy for the Swans, who have netted 13 goals and not conceded in their three fixtures there.
Wynne believes capitalising on home advantage is crucial for the Swans with two games remaining before phase two, as they look to keep the pressure on leaders Cardiff City Women.
“It’s another home game next week, it’s been nice having a couple of home games in the past few weeks and we want to continue to take advantage of that,” said Wynne.
“We want to make Llandarcy as tough for other teams to come to as possible and we’ve had a very good record there so far this year.
“A strong finish to phase one will be really important, we are focused on taking it game by game, and no matter who we are playing we know how important keeping this winning run going is.
“It was a really good performance from start to finish from all of the girls, we started the game really well and got early goals which I think settled us.
“I’m really happy with the goal, I said last time I scored that I don’t get many and it has been a while so I’m glad to be back on the scoresheet.
“As a midfielder I’m probably happier with the assist though, Stacey [John-Davis] was in a lot of space and I was happy that I managed to pick her out and she managed to poke it home.
“Chelsea [Herbert] is also doing awesome in goal, we have confidence as a whole team across the pitch and hopefully that will continue.”
