Striker Sammy Henia-Kamau has his sights sets on scoring more goals for Swansea City in his first season for the under-21s, after signing his first pro deal at the club.

The 18-year-old has extended his stay in SA1 until June 2025, having arrived last summer as a scholar.

He went on to net his first hat-trick in Swans colours in the under-18s’ opening PDL Cup group stage fixture against Cardiff City, as they went on to reach the final of that competition.

In total Henia-Kamau scored 10 goals in all competitions during an impressive first season with the club.

The youngster spent his youth career at Jersey Bulls FC, and became the youngest player to net a hat-trick for their first team, and now he has joined the professional ranks.

"It's something I had my mind on since I joined the club last year, and to be sat here signing feels amazing," said Henia-Kamau.

"When you achieve a goal, it feels extra special. But the hard work starts now, and it's my time to show what I can do for the under-21s this coming season.

"It's nearly been a year since I've made the move from Jersey to Swansea, and I've loved every bit of it and I have made some amazing friends.

"It is always tough moving away from home the first time, especially when home is far away, but the coaches and players have made me feel so welcome."

The striker is looking forward to his first full season in the development side, and is hoping to build on his goalscoring tally from last term.

"I want to make sure I can keep up the momentum of scoring for the under-21s this season. I had periods last year where I picked up some injuries, but I came back and made sure I could help contribute," he added.

"Getting under-21s' experience last season was very beneficial, and I learnt a lot. I can't wait to get fully stuck in and, hopefully, get some training experience within the first-team environment."
