Sam Parker Signs First Professional Contract at Swansea City
Swansea City centre-back Sam Parker has signed his first professional contract at the club, securing his future in SA1 until the end of June 2026.
The 17-year-old has been at the club from under-nine level, and has since progressed through the ranks, making the full-time step up to the under-21s this season.
Cardiff-born Parker was a regular with the under-18s last season, and was handed several opportunities with the upper-age group in the Professional Development League and Premier League Cup.
The youngster recently represented Wales Under-17s in their historic Uefa European Championship campaign in Hungary in May, after the young Dragons had qualified for a first major tournament in that age category.
"We’re really happy Sam has signed his first professional contract with the club," said interim academy manager Ryan Davies.
"Sam has been with us for a number of years in the academy, his progression and development, over the last two seasons in particular, has been really impressive.
"He has excellent physical capabilities, which he has been able to showcase in the under-21s' fixtures already this season. As a full-back or wing-back Sam is able to contribute in the final third but is also very strong when having to defend one v one.
"Sam’s performances last season were recognised by the national set-up, and he was a member of the Wales squad that played in the European Under-17 Championships in Hungary.
"Sam has had great support from his family throughout his journey. We would like to thank them for all the backing they’ve given Sam and the club. We’re really excited to help Sam continue on his journey with Swansea City."
