Russell Martin | We want to go there and perform as well as we did last season
Russell Martin wants Swansea City to kick on from their upturn in results before the international break and look to replicate their displays against West Brom last term when the teams meet again at The Hawthorns this afternoon (3pm).
The Swans head to the west Midlands to take on Steve Bruce’s Baggies as the Championship resumes.
Head coach Martin saw his side rack up a 3-0 win over Hull last time out, and enter the game two points and five places ahead of their hosts.
The Swans boss believes the two sides will each be harbouring frustration that they do not have better points returns from their 10 games so far.
But feels his players showed their ability to respond positively in recent games, and wants them to carry that on as they face a team they completed the double over last season.
“The players were brilliant in the two games against West Brom last season, the performance there was outstanding,” he said.
“They’re a really good side. They've been really unfortunate to only have the points they’ve got. Some of the performances have been really good.
“Steve Bruce is probably scratching his head, a bit like we are and I would say ourselves and West Brom are two sides who will feel they should have more points on the board given how performances have been.
“Our players have used that frustration as fuel to go and perform and kick on. I’m sure their players will be the same.
“It’s one we need to go there and try to turn into a performance like we had last year.”
