Russell Martin | We need to stay in the zone
Russell Martin has urged his Swansea City side to stay in the zone and try to set up an exciting final week of the season when they face Hull City this afternoon (3pm).
The in-form Swans head to the MKM Stadium having won six and drawn one of their last seven Championship fixture, keeping five clean sheets in the process.
It is a run that has seen them close to within three points of the top six with just two games to play.
While head coach Martin and his players have stated they are not thinking about the play-off places given the congested nature of the table, instead focusing on maintaining their performance levels, he would love to give supporters something to dream about in the final countdown.
And to do that, they will need a performance and a result in East Yorkshire.
“It would be nice to keep it exciting for people, and it’s our job to try and do that,” he said.
“But we are going to a Hull team who have been in good form at home. Liam (Rosenior) has done a really good job there.
“They play a good style that is not too dissimilar to us, although of course they are earlier on in their journey in terms of their identity and how they want to do things.
“But they are a good side, just as was the case with Derby last season when Liam was on the coaching staff with Wayne Rooney.
“They can play with the shackles off, but we want to try and impose our way of playing.
“Their players are fighting, they want to be part of the plans there and what Liam is trying to build.
“But we want to stay in this zone we are in, it will be a tough game but we are excited about it because of the feeling we have as a group.”
