Russell Martin | We have a springboard to try and finish season strongly
Russell Martin wants Swansea City to use their back-to-back victories over Bristol City and Cardiff City as a base from which to ensure they finish the season strongly.
The Swans have bounced back from a difficult run of results with wins over their nearest geographical rivals in the Championship.
They secured a 2-0 victory over Bristol City prior to the international break, with Liam Cullen and Olivier Ntcham getting the goals at the Swansea.com Stadium.
And they followed that up with an unforgettable 3-2 win at Cardiff City in the south Wales derby, with Joel Piroe and Cullen scoring, before Ben Cabango struck a 99th-minute winner to make it four derby wins in a row.
The Swans return to action with a home fixture against Coventry on Good Friday, before travelling to face Wigan on Easter Monday.
And head coach Martin wants his side to kick on over the remaining seven games of the campaign.
“These two results have been off the back of the bravery and courage the players have shown in a difficult moment,” said the Swans boss.
“We have now given ourselves a springboard to go and finish the season really, really well.
“Hopefully that can help us to build some momentum ahead of next season, build some real positivity and understanding of what we are about.
“The lads have an opportunity to do that, as do we as a coaching team, and it is up to us to really try and drive that.
“We are relentless with them, and we will need to continue that and try to make sure we end the season on a good note because these two wins, and the manner of them, have given us a real chance to do that.”
