Russell Martin | The players are frustrated we did not win it
Russell Martin was pleased with another positive performance from his Swansea City side, and believes the frustration they felt at not taking three points against Coventry is an encouraging sign moving forward.
In an entertaining and hard-fought Good Friday encounter, the Swans struck the woodwork through Ben Cabango, while Liam Walsh, Harry Darling and Joel Piroe also had big chances for the hosts.
At the other end, Andy Fisher made important saves to deny Gustavo Hamer and Matty Godden as the game somehow ended goalless in front of the biggest crowd of the season at the Swansea.com Stadium.
The performance underlined how Martin’s side have rebounded from a tough run of results as they took the game to a Coventry side who had lost just one of their last 10 games, and the Swansea boss was pleased to see his players back up their wins over Bristol City and Cardiff.
"I thought it was a really good game, I thought it was two really good teams, and we knew that would be the case with these guys,” said Martin.
“They have two really good chances in the game, one we gifted to Hamer in the first half and then the one Godden had, and Andy Fisher makes two brilliant saves. He really stood up for us.
“I'm really pleased for Fish today for the courage he showed and the clean sheet, that is two clean sheets in three now.
“We created some really excellent chances, the double chance we had at the start of the second half we should score.
“That has to go in the goal, so the lads are really frustrated we haven't won the game which I'm pleased about because I think that is a big turnaround over these last three games.
“It’s seven points, two clean sheets, and three really good performances that look like us, we were very dominant with the ball today.
“On the whole I think both managers will think they could have had three points.
"It's brilliant to see so many people and the atmosphere was great.
“The energy was great, we started the game so well and we started the second-half so well. The energy's been great this week in training and we want to keep building on this.”
