Ruben Davies looking to push on after latest goal
Ruben Davies scored his fourth goal of the season in Swansea City Under-21s' comfortable victory over Reading at Landore on Friday afternoon, and the 18-year-old is eying up more goals before the end of the campaign.
Davies ensured the Swans took a 12th minute lead after Ben Lloyd's delivery landed in the path of Davies, before teammate Tivonge Rushesha closely followed suit two minutes later to double their lead.
The Royals pulled one back in the second half, as Adrian Akande – who spent over a year on Swansea academy books – converted from the spot. Substitutes Iwan Morgan and Corey Hurford made an impact on introduction with the former teeing up the latter beautifully for the Swans' third.
"As a team, I thought there was moments in the game where we could have handled certain moments better, but we got the win in the end," said Davies.
"In the first half-hour I thought we dominated, but in the remaining 15 minutes of the first half, we did fall off and Reading pressed, and they came out in the second half fighting.
"It was good to get the win after last week, as it was a disappointing result.
"It was good to get back out there and get a goal, I could have got some more but I'll settle for one, it's something I'll build on.
"As a team, we just want to finish as high as we can in the league and make sure we put in good performances until the end of the season."
Davies - who joined Swansea City's academy set-up in 2020 - previously endured 12 months on the sideline due to a back injury, but now the centre-forward is eager to push on.
"I've had a few niggles with my back in the earlier stages of the season, so it's good to be back and in that starting line-up again," he added.
"For me, I just want to push on, score more goals, build my fitness up and push to have more time within the first-team environment."
