Rodon signs new contract
Swansea City have tied down the future of promising centre-back Joe Rodon, who has signed a new deal at the Liberty Stadium which runs until 2022.
Local product Rodon has enjoyed a fine start to life under Graham Potter, which has included a Swans debut and a call-up to Ryan Giggs’ Wales squad.
Rodon’s contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign but he will now remain at the Liberty for the next three-and-a-half years.
Rodon, who hails from Llangyfelach, came through the club’s academy before playing his first senior game during a loan spell with Cheltenham Town last season. He featured 12 times in all for the Robins.
This season, he was included in new boss Potter’s first-team squad, and made his debut in the 1-0 win over Preston.
He has gone on to make another 11 appearances for the Swans, having impressed in the heart of defence alongside vice-captain Mike van der Hoorn.
His performances have attracted the attention of national boss Giggs, who included the 21-year-old as an unused substitute in the recent matches against Spain and Ireland.
