Robyn Pinder | We have a point to prove in the south Wales derby
Swansea City Women’s forward Robyn Pinder believes her side have a point to prove in their Genero Adran Premier phase one curtain closer against Cardiff City Women on Sunday (2pm).
The Swans currently trail league leaders Cardiff by eight points with two games in hand. They also have three league fixtures remaining against the Bluebirds this term.
Having suffered defeat to Cardiff in their previous league outing, as well as drawing with Aberystwyth Town in their last game, Pinder believes the Swans will have a chip on their shoulders as they look to strike and important blow in the title race in the south Wales derby.
“Everyone is massively up for this game, particularly off the back of the result from last weekend,” she said.
“We want to go out, put in a good performance and show what we are actually capable of, and I think we are all excited to do that in a really big game.
“We always knew how important this game would be, we obviously want to win against Cardiff every time we play them, but we also want to prove how good we are as a team and how much we have grown.
“We go into the game with a point to prove, we were disappointed last time out but this is a chance for us to put that right.
“In our first game with Cardiff I think we had the better chances, we just let ourselves down a bit in the second half.
“We’ve reflected on that first game with them, and I think if we can turn that first-half performance into a 90-minute performance then we win that game.
“We have to be faultless now, there is no room for error anymore so from a mentality standpoint we have to be switched on and take three points from every opportunity we get.”
