Ricky King | Under-18s deserved clean sheet and win

Coach Ricky King felt Swansea City Under-18s had got their just rewards after securing a second home league win of the season against Coventry City in the Professional Development League.

The Swans created a plethora of chances in the first period, with the likes of Thomas Woodward, Rohan Davies and Yori Griffith heavily involved, but the breakthrough came from Cameron Llewellyn in the 29th minute with a strike from outside the area.

The strike proved enough to settle the contest and secure a 1-0 win, even though the Swans may well feel they could have added to their tally given the opportunities they created.

And King believes the performance was a considerable progression from the 2-1 defeat against Hull City, as the age-grade side earned their first clean sheet of the season.

"We're really pleased with that performance. We're looking to progress on areas we look to work on every game, I think we showed progression," said King.

"In possession, we found good solutions and I think Coventry gave us problems at times, but we adapted really well and showed a really good level of understanding and intelligence.

"We were brave, we kept trying to play and we did some really good things. I think the only thing we really lacked was the finishing touch.

"We created so many chances, and we need to be more ruthless with them. Defensively, we worked hard and limited the amount of chances Coventry had.

"The clean sheet is for the whole team, it's not just the defenders and goalkeeper, so it's a credit to all of them for working so hard.

"Last week we switched off in the second half, but they went until the very the end with intensity and they got the deserved win."
