Richards salutes Swans victory
Gary Richards applauded Swansea City Under-23s after they clinched a 3-1 victory over Arsenal in Premier League 2.
George Byers scored twice, either side of Charlie Gilmour's penalty for Arsenal, before Kenji Gorre netted his eighth of the season late on.
The under-23s' third league win of the season lifts them to seventh in the League 1 table.
“It’s nice to get back to winning ways in the league,” said Richards. “We’ve been getting good results in the cups, but I think we certainly needed this win.
“It is always nice to get a win after back-to-back defeats because it builds confidence. Hopefully, we can push on from here.
“Myself and Cameron (Toshack) were very pleased with the first-half performance.
“We hit the woodwork three times and should have been one or two goals better off at half-time.
“If you don’t get that second goal, you’re always running the risk of Arsenal coming out and playing a lot better in the second half, which they did.
“Despite the setback of their equaliser and Arsenal having a spell on top, the players dug in and regained control of the game.
“We looked a lot more threatening, created chances in the last 10 minutes and managed to turn the game around.”
