Report | Wrexham Women 0 Swansea City Ladies 6
A stunning six-goal first half – including a hat-trick for Karmyn Carter – saw Swansea City Ladies advance to the third round of the Adran Premier Trophy with a handsome victory at Wrexham.
Carter – who had scored her first goals for the Swans in midweek – picked up where she left off against Port Talbot by claiming a treble in just 36 minutes, with Chloe Chivers, Laura Davies and Ellie Lake also on the scoresheet for Chris Church’s side.
Wrexham AFC Women – who ply their trade in Genero Adran North – had reformed in 2018, but their hopes of claiming the scalp of last season’s double winners were quickly ended by an opening salvo from the Swans that left the hosts 2-0 down before eight minutes had been played.
It was Chivers who opened the scoring in the sixth minute, making the most of some space to fire in a spectacular strike from distance.
Carter then got herself on the scoresheet seconds later after she headed in a good cross by Stacey John-Davis.
The goals kept coming, and it was 3-0 after 18 minutes with John-Davis again teeing up Carter to finish with aplomb.
Davies got in on the act just a few minutes later, turning in Katy Hosford’s cross to make it 4-0.
Lake added the fifth when her cross from the right-hand flank flew all the way into the net, and Carter wrapped up her hat-trick with a few minutes still to play in the first half.
But, to Wrexham’s credit, they battled well in the second period in foggy conditions at the Brymbo Sports and Social complex.
There was no further score, but the damage had already been done as the Swans eased through.
