Swansea City Under-21s kicked off their pre-season programme with a comfortable victory against JD Cymru South outfit Trefelin BGC at Ynys Park.

Three trialists were on the scoresheet, whilst Thomas Woodward and Josh Pescatore also grabbed a goal apiece.

The fixture was a farewell to Trefelin club legend Ceri Williams, who had made over 800 appearances for the Port Talbot side after 31 years of service to the club.

The young Swans were up against two former players, with club legend Lee Trundle and academy graduate and ex-Wales international Shaun MacDonald in the home ranks.

The Swans were three goals to the good at half-time, with two close-range goals from trialists, before Woodward - who netted 30 goals last term - slotted home following a slick pass from Ben Lloyd.

Lloyd could have had a couple of goals of his own, finding the net from an offside position before sending a curling strike just wide of the top corner in the first half.

The age-grade side made it 4-0 just minutes after the restart as a link-up between two trialists ended with a powerful finish from the edge of the area.

Coach Anthony Wright made 11 changes in the second period, consisting of a number of second-year scholars alongside Josh Thomas, Ben Hughes and Harry Jones.

The fifth goal came after a clever pass from Callum Deacon found Pescatore, who smashed a strike into the back of the net from distance.

The hosts pulled a goal back with a minute left of normal time, as they found the bottom corner from outside the box.
