Report: Tottenham U23s 2 Swans U23s 2
Swansea City Under-23s earned another point in Premier League 2 Division 1 after twice being pegged back by Tottenham Hotspur during a 2-2 draw in Stevenage.
All four goals came in the second half with Japhet Tanganga turning George Byers’ corner into his own net after 52 minutes.
Spurs were back on level terms soon after though as the game sprang into life. A long ball over the top just evaded Joe Rodon and Kazaiah Sterling raced on before cutting inside onto his right foot and firing low past Gregor Zabret.
The Swans kept plugging away and they deservedly took the lead with 15 minutes left with Byers playing a key role. He took play forward before finding the lively Oli McBurnie inside the area to fire a low shot past keeper Alfie Whiteman.
However, just as they did earlier in the half, Spurs levelled five minutes after having fallen behind as sub Keanan Bennetts cut inside before he drilled home past Zabret from the edge of the area.
The Swans almost won it with the last kick of the game, with McBurnie's header being parried to sub Jordan Garrick, but he was twice denied from point-blank range.
The point follows up the team’s opening division one victory over Derby last time out at the Liberty with the U23s back in PL2 action this Friday against Manchester City at Landore.
