Swansea City Women earned their first win of the season with a dominant victory over Barry Town United Women at Llandarcy.

Sammy Wynne opened the scoring for the Swans, slotting into the bottom-left corner just before the break.

Two second-half own goals sealed three points for the Swans, with dangerous balls from Chloe Chivers and Sophie Brisland-Hancocks forcing errors from the visitors.

The Swans almost had the lead in the opening minute of the game, Chivers breaking down the left and flashing a low cross into the box, but Katy Hosford couldn’t quiet latch onto it.

Barry also had an early chance, Aimee Deacon getting into the area and forcing a great save from Chelsea Herbert to keep the game level.

Robyn Pinder then came close to finding the opener, her chipped effort from the edge of the box going just over the bar.

The Swans grew into the game, dominating possession and patiently looking to open up the visitors.

Chloe Bull and Chivers came close to breaking the deadlock, but couldn’t find their way past  Erin Brennan in the Barry goal.

But the Swans would make their dominance pay in the 38th minute, Steph Turner sliding Wynne through to slot home her first Swansea City goal on her first start for the club since joining from Oxford.

The hosts retained their advantage at the interval, and Swansea soon had their second goal after the break, Chivers’ dangerous corner causing havoc in the six-yard box, leading to a Barry defender putting the ball into her own net.

Chivers continued to cause trouble from corners not long after, finding Nieve Jenkins in the box, who fired her effort just over the bar.

But the miss would not prove costly and It would soon be 3-0 to the Swans, a great ball from Brisland-Hancocks into the box causing a second own goal of the afternoon, this time Nia Davies beating her own keeper.

The win gives the Swans their first three points of the season and puts them top of the Genero Adran Premier.
