Women
Stacey John-Davis v Briton Ferry

Swansea City Women were held to a goalless draw at Llandarcy Academy of Sport by a stubborn Briton Ferry Llansawel defence.

Chances for Lauren Davies and Stacey John-Davis proved to be as close as the Swans got to breaking the deadlock as it ended all-square.

The hosts had taken charge of proceedings from the off, and the first chance of the game fell to Robyn Pinder when she found time on the edge of the box, but her long-range effort was dealt with by Courtney Young in the Briton Ferry goal.

Davies then came close to opening her account for the Swans, skipping into the box before driving a low effort at goal that was held by the keeper.

The hosts continued to probe for a way through  before the break. Pinder’s excellent run across the touchline allowed her to pull-back for John-Davis, but the forward’s effort didn’t challenge Courtney Young in the Ferry goal.

Davies had another opportunity just after the restart when she found time at the back post before cutting inside to bend an effort just past the post.

The well organised Briton Ferry defence continued to frustrate the Swans into the closing stages, and John-Davis and Emily Thomas both forced good saves from Young.

But the contest would end goalless.
