Swansea City Under-21s fought back twice to secure a point against their AFC Bournemouth counterparts in their Professional Development League encounter at the Joma High Performance Centre.

The visitors opened the scoring through their skipper Max Kinsey, but the Swans were immediately level after Sammy Henia-Kamau tapped home moments later.

Bournemouth regained the lead back with 15 minutes to go, Ben Winterburn smashing the ball into the net after a fine strike from distance.

But Swansea would again respond quickly as substitute Glory Nzingo brought the home side level with a well-taken strike.

Kit Margetson started in between the sticks for the hosts, after returning from international duty with Wales Under-19s, whilst Callum Deacon was handed his first start as he stepped up from the under-18s.

Kyrell Wilson made his first start of the season following his recent return from injury.

The opening exchanges proved even with neither side crafting a clear chance.

Deacon chased back to prevent Winterburn getting away a shot in the area, before Ben Lloyd's cross failed to pick out another white shirt.

However, the Cherries did start to have some joy in their attacks, and their first chance came when Kinsey's curling effort from a corner sailed just wide.

The Swans responded, and thought they had the lead in the 14th minute when a flowing team move picked out Thomas Woodward to head home, but the offside flag was raised.

Another slick passing move created space for the hosts with Mitchell Bates, Lloyd, Wilson and Woodward all involved before the latter's final touch deflected out for a corner. The resulting delivery was headed over the bar by Arthur Parker.

But it was Bournemouth who took the lead, skipper Kinsey slotting home from the edge of the area after a series of corner.

However, the Swans immediately responded through Henia-Kamau after Govea's cross was blocked twice and a defensive mix up saw the ball fall for the youngster to tap home into the empty net.

Minutes later, Wilson's pacy run down the right eventually took him through on goal, but his effort was dragged agonisingly wide.

The second half started with Nzingo on in place of Wilson, and the hosts opened up brightly with Govea causing trouble on the flank and delivering some threatening balls into the box.

Bournemouth kept pushing but a fine defensive effort from Richard Faakye and Deacon kept the visitors at bay, the latter making a crucial block to deny Jonny Suttle.

Henia-Kamau saw two close-range efforts blocked, before Nzingo took too many touches and ran out of room after been put through one on one.

It was a counter-attack that allowed the Cherries to restore their lead, a rapid move ended with Ash Clarke teeing up Winterburn to fire home.

But, as had been the case in the first half, Swansea were level within minutes. Nzingo was played in to space down the right, and worked room to fire a strike into the corner of the net.

In stoppage time Bates' volley rattled the post, but there would be no late winner.
