Swansea City picked up a fifth win in a row as a controlled display saw them defeat Queens Park Rangers at MATRADE Loftus Road.

A Morgan Fox own goal – the defender diverting Liam Cullen’s effort into the far corner – gave the visitors the lead after a first half where they were never threatened.

And they extended that advantage when Harry Darling and Josh Key arrived together at the far post to bundle home a deflected cross, with replays suggesting the full-back may have got the final touch.

Kader Dembele got a goal back for the hosts, but they could not prevent the Swans stringing together a quintet of league wins for the first time since 2007.

This also means the Swans have equalled their best run of league form since a remarkable sequence of nine wins in a row during the 1999-2000 Third Division-winning campaign.

Both sides had made two changes from their respective Good Friday victories.

The Swans had Liam Cullen and Jay Fulton come in for Zan Vipotnik and Jay Fulton, while Lucas Andersen and Rayan Kolli were handed starts for the hosts.

However, QPR had to make one further change just before kick-off when Jonathan Varane was ruled out and Morgan Fox took his place.

Swansea enjoyed plenty of possession in the early going, moving the ball around crisply although without initially being able to create a great deal in the final third.

Josh Tymon QPR

Goncalo Franco saw a shot blocked, while an attempted through ball from Liam Cullen found Jisung Eom coming back from an offside position.

But the Swans took the lead on the half-hour mark when Josh Tymon drove into space down the left and whipped in a cross that Cullen got a touch on, with the ball then ricocheting off Fox and into the far corner of the net.

Cullen volleyed over a few moments later when a free-kick was half-cleared to him on the edge of the area, and the Wales international also saw a low drive deflected wide at the end a first half which Swansea had largely controlled.

They also had the better of the early stages of the second half, with Liam Morrison doing well to cut out Tymon’s fierce low delivery.

And they got their second when Franco exchanged passes on the edge of the area and fed Eom and his low cross was eventually turned in by Key as he and Darling converged at the far post.

It should have been 3-0 moments later when Cullen’s effort from Eom’s cross was saved by Paul Nardi, before Eom and Franco were unable to finish chances which were eventually flagged for offside.

QPR had not mustered a single shot on target, but when they did they pulled a goal back as good work from Jack Colback and Nicolas Madsen sent Dembele in behind the defence and he fired high into the far corner.

For the first time in the game the visitors were now coming under pressure and Ben Cabango bravely blocked an Ilias Chair strike, before Michael Frey was unable to make meaningful contact with a header.

At the other end Eom sent a diving header wide but the Swans were able to see out the remaining 10 minutes and a further eight minutes of stoppage time for another three points.
