Report | Hull City U18s 2 Swansea City U18s 2
Swansea City Under-18s had to settle for a point after they were pegged back in the dying moments by Hull City.
Iwan Morgan’s brace put the young Swans in control early in the second half at Bishop Burton College.
But the hosts struck twice in the final 12 minutes, with Billy Leach and Glen Sani earning a share of the spoils in the Professional Development League clash.
Byron Anthony’s side were forced to play out the final moments with 10 men after Panashe Makokowe received a straight red card.
Although disappointed not to take all three points as they played out a third consecutive 2-2 draw, the resurgent Swans extended their unbeaten run to four matches.
The visitors’ concentration was tested inside the opening 25 minutes. First, they made an important clearance to deny Harry Lovick, who then saw a first-time shot deflected behind by Makokowe.
The Swans went close at the other end with Ben Lloyd rattling the crossbar from distance.
But they did take the lead on the stroke of half-time as Morgan converted a looping cross at the back post.
And the 15-year-old striker doubled his tally four minutes after the break; turning home Cameron Congreve’s free-kick for his third goal in as many games.
Both goalkeepers came their sides’ rescue soon after. Alex Rutter showed terrific reflexes to keep out Jevon Mills’ powerful header, while David Robson made a good block at his near post to deny Joel Cotterill.
Hull grabbed a lifeline in the 78th minute albeit in fortuitous circumstances, with Leach’s attempted cross deceiving Rutter and going in off the far post.
Leach then turned provider as the hosts snatched a point with a minute to go. His low cross was converted by Sani from close range.
The Swans were forced to see out the final moments with 10 men after Makokowe received his marching orders for an off-the-ball incident.
