Report | Gwalia United 5 Swansea City Women 0

8th August
Women
Rachel Cullen v Gwalia

Swansea City Women racked up more valuable game time as they faced Gwalia United in their latest pre-season friendly at the University of South Wales.

The outing was the Swans third pre-season outing as they prepared for the start of the new Genero Adran Premier season in September, with Gwalia’s campaign in the third tier of the English league system commencing in just 10 days.

The Swans had trailed 3-0 at the interval, although they had threatened early through a Chloe Chivers effort.

The opener arrived courtesy of a deflected free-kick, before Gwalia doubled their lead after making the most of good pressing work that allowed them to win the ball back high up the pitch.

A penalty further extended Gwalia's lead heading into half-time, and a sharp counter-attack saw them add a fourth early in the second period.

At the other end, Sophie Brisland-Hancocks sent a strike wide, while Maddy Murray was also unable to convert a headed chance for Swansea, before Gwalia rounded off the scoring with a powerful finish from inside the penalty area.
