Swansea City Ladies maintained their perfect record after they hammered Cyncoed 7-0 at USW Sport Park.

The Swans went into the break 3-0 up thanks to a superb 25-yard strike from Shaunna Jenkins, a goal from Emma Beynon and a cute lobbed finish from Stacey John-Davis.

The second half saw the league leaders add four further goals as John-Davis doubled her tally while Lauren Smith added a brace. A ferocious strike from Chloe Chivers topped off a great display for the visitors.

Sunday’s win means Ian Owen’s side sit top of the Welsh Premier Women’s League table over the Christmas break - three points ahead of rivals Cardiff City.

Chloe Chivers

Swansea found themselves in front with 14 minutes gone. Jenkins dispossessed Alison Witts and then turned and slammed the ball home past keeper Poppy Soper from long-range into the top-right corner.

Smith had a great chance to double the lead after she was sent through by Katy Hosford, but Soper got down to her right quickly to prevent the American.

However, the Swans did increase their lead soon after as Beynon fired her effort into the top corner from just inside the area.

Soper limited the score as she denied Chivers from point-blank range at her near post.

Emma Beynon

On the stroke of half-time, the visitors added another courtesy of John-Davis as the striker dinked the ball over the goalkeeper after Hosford’s corner created a scrappy situation in the penalty area.

Straight after the restart, Chivers made a short run into the area and thumped her shot into the far corner before John-Davis bagged her second of the afternoon slotting home from Hosford’s through ball.

Swansea were relentless going forward and they had time to add two more – both via Smith.

She ran directly at the heart of the Cyncoed defence and placed her shot in the net to make it 6-0 before she rounded off the scoring with a fine solo effort.
