Report: Chelsea U23s 1 Swans U23s 3
A first-half hat-trick from Oli McBurnie helped Swansea City Under-23s seal their second league win of the season with a 3-1 win against Chelsea.
The home side could have taken the lead at Aldershot's Recreation Ground inside the opening quarter-of-an-hour as striker Victor Adeboyejo headed Reece James' cross inches wide.
But Swansea took the lead in the 25th minute as Jay Fulton crafted a neat one-two with Jordan Garrick to create space on the right wing allowing the Scot to cross for Oli McBurnie to head home in his fifth consecutive game for the U23s.
The Scot doubled the lead four minutes later with a move that started and finished with the striker as a one-two with Garrick released McBurnie into the box to fire past Jamie Cummings.
And McBurnie took full advantage to complete his hat-trick inside 40 minutes as the frontman finished a superb counter-attack to curl home an excellent shot inside the Blues' area to give the U23s a 3-0 advantage at the break.
Chelsea rallied in the second half and almost took advantage of a defensive error at the back only for Adeboyejo to fire the chance wide.
The home side continued to press as Luke McCormick and Reece James both saw decent efforts saved by Dutch goalkeeper Erwin Mulder.
At the other end, Swansea almost added a fourth as Daniel James raced 50 yards through Chelsea's midfield before laying off for McBurnie to tee the winger up - only for a last-ditch block from Joshua Grant to deny the young midfielder.
The home side made changes and within minutes of coming on midfielder Kylian Hazard - the younger brother of Chelsea midfielder Eden - netted his first goal for the Blues as the winger mopped up Mulder's palmed save from Tervoh Chalobah's header.
Chelsea could of have scored a second had it not been for Mulder's acrobatic save to deny Dujon Sterling's headed effort from eight yards.
But Swansea held on to claim all three points in Division 1 - their second PL2 win of the season with McBurnie netting eight goals for the U23s in five games.
