Report: Caernarfon Town Women 0 Swans Ladies 7
Swans Ladies were in seventh heaven on Sunday as they defeated Caernarfon Town Women 7-0 at the Oval in the Welsh Premier Women’s League.
Swans Ladies started brightly and controlled possession in the early stages of the match. An effort from striker Katie Davies stung the hands of Caernarfon’s keeper in the third minute before a Ria Hughes shot went just wide.
Jodie Passmore scored the opener in the seventh minute following a great cross from Davies.
Soon after, a great through ball from Passmore found Megan Franks out wide and she centred for Katie Davies to tap in the second.
Stacey John-Davis had a great chance to extend the Swans’ lead in the 24th minute when she latched onto an Alison Witts cross, but her effort was cleared.
A John-Davis cross then found Passmore who slotted home the third in the 28th minute.
Kelly Newcombe netted on the half-hour mark after some excellent build-up play to extend the lead to 4-0.
Sophie Hancocks made it 5-0 five minutes into the second half, while Hughes slotted home after a great one-two with Hancocks in the 64th minute.
Passmore completed her hat-trick and took the lead to 7-0 in the 65th minute.
John-Davis looked like scoring an eighth goal but saw her goal ruled offside, before a great curled effort from Katy Hosford rattled the woodwork.
Substitute Hannah Thomas had a good chance to score in the final minutes, but her effort just missed the target.
