Swansea City Ladies extended their 100 per cent record this season with victory over Abergavenny Ladies in Monmouthshire.

Chloe Chivers opened the scoring from the spot after referee Cheryl Foster deemed Mali Summers to have handled the ball in the penalty area.

The win was sealed with a thunderous long-range effort from Chivers in the second half, which completed her brace as well as sealing the three points.

The triumph means that the Swans go into the second half of the season with a perfect record having won all their fixtures in all competitions to date.

Swansea did have a scare early on after a scramble in the six-yard box but Claire Skinner was able to gather the ball safely.

The Swans were soon appealing for a penalty with just under 15 minutes played after Chivers’ cross seemingly struck the hand of the defender, but nothing was given.

But the official did point to the spot soon after when Summers was adjudged to have handled in the box; Chivers remained calm and buried it with conviction into the bottom left corner.

Katy Hosford posed a threat after she cut inside to allow herself to get a shot off but the effort was pulled slightly wide.

Ria Hughes then came close to doubling the visitors' advantage after she was found by Emma Beynon in an unmarked position on the edge of the box, but her curling effort whistled past the far post.

Hosford came agonisingly close to putting the Swans fully in command as she hit the crossbar from a free-kick in the closing stages of the first half.

But Chivers bagged her brace in the early stages of the second half with a ferocious effort from outside the box giving the keeper no chance.

Abergavenny were given an opportunity to get back into the game after Skinner was deemed to have taken out Lyndsey Davies.

However, the Swansea keeper made amends to save from the spot and maintain the Swans’ two-goal advantage.
