Rachel Cullen | We want to start another cup run
Swansea City Women’s midfielder Rachel Cullen is relishing the opportunity to start another cup run, but has warned they must not underestimate Genero Adran Trophy opponents Llandudno Ladies.
The Swans face the Genero Adran North outfit in the last-16 tie (2pm kick-off), having progressed to the quarter-finals of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup last weekend.
Cullen says the Swans are eager to make their mark in another competition but insists they must retain their focus having been knocked out of the same competition by Llandudno a year ago.
“Everyone loves a cup run,” said Cullen.
“We want to get far, and we want to win trophies, it’s a chance for us to get to the next round so hopefully we can do that.
“It is difficult when you play a side in the second tier, everyone is expecting big scorelines, but it doesn’t always work that way.
“It’s character building, we’ve proved that we have character in the team, the game against Cwmbran wasn’t easy, but we pulled together.
“Every game and every opponent needs to be taken seriously, anything can happen in the cup and whoever wins that game goes through.
“Obviously it’s knock-out, there is a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs, so we can’t take it lightly at all.”
