Rachel Cullen | Derby win will mean nothing if we can't follow it up

Rachel Cullen v Cardiff

Rachel Cullen has urged Swansea City Women to build on their strong start to the season - including a south Wales derby victory - when they host The New Saints Women this weekend.

Cullen helped the Swans to a 1-0 win in over defending Genero Adran Premier champions Cardiff City at the Swansea.com Stadium last Sunday, with Stacey John-Daivs netting a second-half winner.

But the midfielder has stressed the importance of following that up as they welcome TNS to Llandarcy this weekend.

“We’ve been building and building and getting better with each game,” said Cullen.

“That win was a massive statement to the league, we all want to win the league and we know we can continue to go on from here.

“We keep improving and that is showing that we need to stick to our principles and identity and it will pay off.

“But the win will mean nothing if we can’t follow it up on Sunday, every game is just as important.

“It’s nice to win at the stadium in the derby, but there are three points up for grabs in every game and we have to keep moving forward.

“We have to treat every game exactly same, whether it’s at the stadium or at Llandarcy, we don’t want to drop any points.

“There have been a lot of changes for us over the summer, but we can see that we are going in the right direction.”
