£600 boost for Swansea City Former Players’ Association from City Business Network
An impromptu fundraiser at the first City Business Network event of the new season added generous donations to Swansea City Former Players’ Association.
More than 50 partners and sponsors got together at the Swansea.com Stadium for the CBN event, which included watching Russell Martin’s side take on Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
The 1-0 victory put smiles on faces and thanks to donations from Westacres, Peter Lynn and Partners and Blue Rock Construction, kicked off fundraising for the club’s FPA.
FPA chair Lee Trundle, and current first-team player Connor Roberts, joined compare Kev Johns for the event, which was sponsored by Ministry of Furniture.
Swansea City FPA launched earlier this month and exists to reunite former colleagues and friends, provide support, including social and welfare, and raise funds.
It will facilitate social activities as well as fundraising events and provide opportunities for ex-players, both men and women, to attend matches and meet other ex-players.
The first fundraising event organised by the FPA will be a memory walk in association with the club’s official charity, the Alzheimer’s Society Cymru. Funds raised by the event will go to the Alzheimer’s Society Cymru.
It was the overwhelming choice of supporters when the club asked them to nominate a charity for the 2021-22 season.
Details of the event and how supporters can get involved will be released over the next few weeks.
Any former players wishing to register an interest in the FPA can do so here.
The next CBN event, titled ‘Dream. Believe. Achieve.’ will be held on Wednesday, September 29.
It includes an evening with recently retired Swans legend Nathan Dyer and Swans favourite Kev Johns, followed by a live stream of the away fixture at Fulham.
