Swansea City Under-21s are back in Professional Development League action as they travel to Vicarage Road to take on Watford in the Professional Development League on Friday (1pm kick-off).

The young Swans have recorded two draws so far in 2023, which came against Charlton Athletic and Cardiff City.

The Swans have been boosted by the recent return from injury of Josh Thomas, Ben Lloyd and Ruben Davies as they look to finish the season strongly.

The Hornets, meanwhile, saw defeat in midweek against their London counterparts Charlton Athletic, the Addicks coming out on top with a comfortable 6-1 win.

Watford currently sit bottom of the Professional Development League South table, with just two wins under their belt this season, which came against Cardiff City and Queens Park Rangers respectively.

In the reverse fixture at Landore Training Ground in October, the Swans eased to a comfortable 4-0 win with goals from Kian Jenkins, Tarrelle Whittaker, Cameron Congreve and Joe Thomas.

Pre-match views

Coach Anthony Wright: "We put in a fantastic performance against Cardiff, and there's always moments to improve on and that's what we'll work towards going to Watford.

"We're playing at Vicarage Road, a stadium game is always good practice and experience for the young lads and we look forward to travelling to a good ground.

"We've got a few of the lads back from injury now, so we've definitely strengthened in areas but it's all great to see them back and ready to go for the rest of the season."

Swansea City Under-23s were held to a 0-0 draw away at Watford in their Professional Development League trip to face the Hornets.

Both sides had chances, but the Swans controlled possession throughout and were particularly unlucky not to find a winner late on.

Ben Lloyd came close to breaking the deadlock, his powerful volley from the edge of the box forcing a good save from Dante Baptiste.

Jaden Forrester had the chance to get a winner late on, Joel Cotterill’s excellent delivery being met by the forward’s header, but the goalkeeper would hold onto the effort.
