Women
Genero Adran Trophy

Swansea City Women travel to Latham Park this evening to face The New Saints Women in the Genero Adran Trophy final as they look to secure a first piece of silverware since 2022 (5.30pm)

The Swans are two-time winners of the competition, but are looking to regain the title for the first time since 2021.

Convincing wins over Llanfair United and Cascade, as well as an impressive 3-2 win away at Wrexham, earned the Swans their place in the final.

The New Saints, who are in the final for the first time, began their campaign with a 6-1 win over Caldicot, before eliminating holders Cardiff City and coming from two goals down to beat Briton Ferry Llansawel 3-2 in the semi-final.

Both teams come into the fixture off the back of disappointing results, with the Swans being held to a goalless draw by Briton Ferry and TNS losing 1-0 to a late Wrexham strike on Wednesday night.

Jamie Sherwood Swansea City

First-team manager Jamie Sherwood: “As a team we have some bits to rewrite after losing in the final last year, we are all looking forward to it, we are in a good place.

“We are excited to be going up against TNS, who have been one of the thorns in our side this year.

“In our second game against TNS we didn’t get what we deserved, we know what threatTNS will pose

“We know what they will bring and hopefully we will be in a position to counteract it, maximise our potential and change the result from what it has been over the last couple of games.

“Swansea have been renowned for winning silverware, the club has a heritage and tradition of silverware. It’s been difficult for the club and for the players to be without it for a couple of seasons now, but this is the first piece of the jigsaw puzzle that we are slowly putting together.”

Previous meeting

Nia Jones v TNS

The two sides last met in December, with TNS earning a 1-0 win as Lexi Jones netted a stoppage-time winner.

The final outcome was tough on the Swans, who played more than an hour of the contest with defender Nia Jones in goal, following an injury to goalkeeper Charlie Haynes.

They had looked on course for a hard-earned point, only for Lexi Jones to strike for TNS at the death.
