The Swans ended 2023 in style with an emphatic 4-0 win over Barry Town United Women, extending their good run of form to nine from their last 10 games in all competitions.
Cardiff Met reached the quarter-finals after a convincing 10-0 win over Coed Duon, netting nine first-half goals before making it double figures late in the second half.
PRE-MATCH VIEWS
Swansea City Women interim head coach Chris Church: “All of the group are relishing being back playing, the players have had a nice two weeks off to recharge the batteries, but now we are looking forward to a big game.
“It’s always a big game when we play Cardiff Met, they are a good side, they’ve won plenty of trophies.
“You always expect a tough battle with Cardiff Met, we’ve had tough battles in the past, we’re at home and we want to make that home draw count.
“If we play the football we have been playing, then we will give ourselves a good chance of reaching the semi-final.
“It’s the business part of the season now, big games are coming thick and fast in all competitions, every game matters and we will see where it takes us at the end of the season.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
The two sides last met earlier this season in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, with the Swans progressing to the second round as two late goals secured a dramatic win.
Met had put themselves ahead after 15 minutes, Faith Mulenga tapping home from close range.
However, after significant pressure from the Swans, Chloe Chivers levelled with 15 minutes to go.
And Chivers would prove key in the decisive goal with two minutes to go, her dangerous free-kick causing Sophie Davidson to put the ball through her own net and give the Swans the win.
