Preview | Swansea City Women v Cardiff City Women
Swansea City Women play their third game in the space of a week as they welcome Cardiff City to Llandarcy Academy of Sport this afternoon (2pm).
The Swans are unbeaten in their last six home games ahead of their return to Llandarcy, where they have not played since their phase two opening win over Wrexham.
Cardiff City come into the game off the back of six consecutive wins, the most recent of those coming against the Swans as a 4-0 victory in midweek saw them claim the Genero Adran Premier title.
PRE-MATCH VIEWS
Swansea City Women interim head coach Chris Church: “We’ve had a short period of reflection after midweek, but this group of players have that mental resilience that when times get tough they know how to respond.
“Wednesday’s result will hopefully light a fire in the players and give them the determination to not let that happen again.
“We can all see how much passion the team have put into this season, so we want to bring them to Llandarcy and go some way to putting that result right and finish the campaign strongly."
PREVIOUS MEETING
The two sides last met just four days ago, with Cardiff City sealing a second-consecutive league title with a 4-0 win over the Swans.
Eliza Collie put Cardiff ahead when she tapped home a rebound from close range, before Rhianne Oakley doubled their lead 12 minutes later.
Oakley extended the home side’s advantage with her second of the game after the break, before Molly Kehoe rounded off the scoring as the visitors saw their title hopes ended despite a determined chase of the leaders over much of the season.
