Preview | Swansea City Women v Briton Ferry Llansawel
Swansea City Women play their first home fixture of 2025 as they welcome Briton Ferry Llansawel Ladies to Llandarcy Academy of Sport tonight (7.30pm).
The Swans come into the game looking to immediately bounce back following a 1-0 defeat to Cardiff City Women last Sunday.
Briton Ferry come into the game in strong form, having won two and drawn one of their opening three league games in 2025, a late equaliser against The New Saints earning them a point last time out.
A win for Swansea City will secure a place in the Championship battle over the league season's second phase with a game to spare.
Pre-match views
First team manager Jamie Sherwood: "After a disappointing second-half display last weekend, we've got to put things right and it's a great opportunity to do that against our local rivals.
"They are a team that are absolutely on a bounce at the moment, but it's a great opportunity for us to take them on.
"We feel prepared, we know how they want to play, we've looked at a lot of things and the girls will be as prepared as we can be."
In the last meeting between the two sides, a depleted Swansea City were handed a 2-0 loss away at Old Road.
Lucy Powell struck for the hosts in the first 45 minutes as she took advantage of a loose ball in the Swansea half.
Alison Witts would double the home side’s lead late on to secure three points against a visiting team nursing a long injury list and featuring four under-19s’ players.
